Hello,
My hoopskirt has a very annoying tendency of slipping lower and lower throughout the day no matter how tightly I tie the drawstring!
Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might be able to attach it to my corset or skirt layers so that it can't slip about? I thought about a hook and eye closure, but I'm not sure I want to sew that onto my corset... Or maybe a drawstring through the eyelets in the back? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 1:09 PMIf you wear a corset cover, you could pin the hoops skirt to that so it will not slip down. -

Mon, December 10, 2007 - 1:20 PMOh, that is a good idea, I didn't think of that, make it into a full slip rather than a half one!

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 1:19 PMIf you are handy you could just make a new waistband with either hooks and eyes or a button and attach the hoop to that. I think the problem is in the tie style waistband. I think their are other solutions including the suspenders (bracers), but that strikes me as best. I also think it should be a regular waistband with your slip pleated into it.

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 4:58 PMThe easiest is to tie your hoop skirt with your corset laces. For instance, tie off your corset, then tie another bow/knot including the hoop skirt. -

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Thu, December 13, 2007 - 5:59 PMI had that happen with my old set of hoops. I put an elastic waistband on it--no more slipping!

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 11:15 AMI attatched braces to my hoops when I was pregnant a few years ago. It worked very well. You could also do what "They" did: have a solid waistband with some buttonholes in it, and sew buttons to your corset. -

Re: Hoopskirt attachment question
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 12:26 PMSarah - we have attached bars to the Queens corset and then the hooks onto the waistband of her hoop. It helps to distribute the weight that way.
I am not fond of the drawstring waistband - I converted mine to a solid waistband. I wouldn't attach it to the corset cover - the weight could cause it to rip. -
