If anyone knows of a place I can get a pair of womens gloves appropriate for period that actually fit my large hands (long fingers and large palms- size 11 shoe), I would be forever grateful!

Thu, November 15, 2007 - 11:58 AMWhat about mitts? They are fingerless and usually stretchier than regular gloves.

Re: gloves for large hands
Thu, November 15, 2007 - 3:47 PMi have the exact opposite problem. my hands are tiny. i do have a pair of fingerless, croched gloves i got from casa that i used for dickens last year. they fall right off my hands, i only wore them because they kept my shirt cuffed.

You can get very inexpensive 'stretch' "mitten" gloves at Target. for something like 2 bucks or less for 2 pair. (They come packaged as 2 pair together. ) I've purchased quite a few of them in the past, and I just open up the seam at the tips of the fingers. They usually have quite a few colors to choose from. Make sure you choose approvable colors, though. ;-)

Re: gloves for large hands
Tue, November 27, 2007 - 3:03 PMdepending on how much you are willing to spend... there is a glove maker in Los Angeles from whom I have gotten gloves custom to my hands in leather for around $80. This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure what the pricing would be for custom now, but she does stock all sizes and they hold up to the test of wear well.
