im sitting here ready to pull my hair out, making some of the silliest mistakes while sewing. and then it occured to me how many of us have hemmed a whole circle skirt before we realized we had no bobbin thread? how may of us have sewn things inside out upside down and backwards?

its time to share...

maybe others wont make the same mistakes, maybe it will just spread some smiles...

oh, if I had a quarter for every time I've done that in my life, I'd have enough money for - bobbin thread (at least)! That has to be one of the most frustrating things one can do when working with the billows and billows of fabric we use for our costumes

indeed or to realize after youve sewn 9 yards worth of hem that you forgot to change the color of your bobbin thread

Last time I did this, I refused to pick it out. Covered it with ribbon.

Let's see... sewing a gored skirt panel on sideways... sewed One seam inside out and only realized it when hemming(top half of it was hidden in gathering)... I try not to let myself sew after twelve thirty, in part because of the two times when picking out seams where I punched the ripper through the fabric and tore a couple inch hole before realizing it.

When I made my wedding dress (from Folkwears Edwardian Wedding dress pattern), I used a sheer cotton and then did lace insets throughout. I somehow managed to make 2 left sleeves. I also misjudged the ruffle and had to regather all 26 yards. My most common errors seem to be sewing without thread and sewing things inside out.

Well. I just managed to nearly ruin a perfectly lovely piece of silk. Stripes, so I cut and turned to match. Then proceeded to begin cutting out... without benefit of the needed lengthwise FOLD.

    Damn!

Now I have to figure out a cheat or something else that will work in the fabric!

    stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid....
