After so many compliments on the fabric that my dress is made out of I decided to go by the shop today and get the biz card (I also got more fabric for a new outfit). The Fancy Dry Goods adn Clothing Store is in Columbia State Park, which is near Sonora in the Sierra foothills off of highway 108. Here is a link to their site: www.columbiacalifornia.com/fancy.html . It may be too late for some of you to get up there this year but think about going up next spring, or summer. Call first to make sure that they are open. I went by a couple of weeks ago and they were on vacation. Lindy knows her fabric and pretty much only stocks period prints.

Re: Period fabric source
Tue, November 27, 2007 - 5:52 PMRobyn - A different person runs it now from when you were a child. I believe that Lindy has had the concession for about 4 years. She does a great job.
Robin and Carrie - We must go this coming year. Field trip, yes. I will make the trek over the mountains. It's only about 3 hours from my place. -

Re: Period fabric source
Tue, November 27, 2007 - 5:54 PMHow far from here? Three? Four? Is it a good half-way point? -
-
Re: Period fabric source
Tue, November 27, 2007 - 6:13 PMPretty much half way. Actually it is closer to you time-wise. If I didn't have follow the speed limit in Yosemite I could get there sooner. It takes about 2 hours to get to Groveland from my place, and then another 1/2 to 1 hour to Columbia. -

Tue, November 27, 2007 - 6:59 PMSonora also has a great store called Dragoons (I'm not sure if it is still in business though). It has awesome shoes. I think Laurie got her Queenie shoes there, but I could be wrong. -

Re: Period fabric source
Wed, November 28, 2007 - 11:21 AMI think that's it - I remember the store being on the main drag. I'd really have to go up there and poke around to be completely sure.
But that is a good place to start!

Re: Period fabric source
Wed, November 28, 2007 - 3:04 PMNo date is decided. A day trip for me means that the pass needs to be open, otherwise a it will take me about 5-6 hours to get there. -
