Several of us were working on some real "low" costumes on Monday night!
Found that Rit black dye in a spray bottle did a great job of getting that sooty look, plus with some latex gloves, spraying it on your hands allowed us to really dirty up the lapels, collars, buttons and hats.
Now I just need a pole for my chimney sweep and I'm in! Kind of looking forward to raising a sooty dust cloud at the fair! :)

Thu, November 29, 2007 - 12:50 PMI was wondering how well fabric paint would work? I need to muck up the hem of my skirt and was thinking about tea-dyeing it, as I can't seem to find anything other than rit dye and fabric paint. But maybe the rit in the spray bottle thing would work! -

As I read the first post, I was thinking of suggesting he get more tips from Ace. I recall Ace explaining last year how he had done his coat and other stuff. It's pretty cool how simple it can be. (Nice to know you don't have to drag stuff along the road from the back of your car... ;-P )
